The FB 20 combines dual-tube image intensifier night vision with digital infrared imaging and image fusion technology in a compact and lightweight binocular system. By combining both imaging technologies, the system provides enhanced perception in challenging low-light and infrared environments. 

Dual-Band Fusion Imaging

The FB 20 is designed to combine night vision and infrared imaging to improve target recognition and situational awareness.

Its infrared system uses a 640 × 512, 12 μm sensor with a 24° × 20° field of view, while the night vision system provides a wide 40° field of view. The integrated fusion system offers different display modes, including Highlight and Outline, allowing the user to adapt the image presentation to the situation.

The upgraded imaging system is designed to provide lower image distortion and reduced chromatic aberration, while the low-latency infrared imaging system reduces latency by approximately 33% compared with the previous generation.

Flexible Image Intensifier Configuration

The FB 20 supports a range of 18 mm Gen 2+ and Gen 3 image intensifier tubes, including MX10160 and MX11769 configurations. This provides greater flexibility when selecting the desired image intensifier performance and also simplifies future tube replacement or upgrades.

Compact Dual-Tube Design

Despite combining multiple imaging technologies, the FB 20 features a redesigned optical-mechanical construction with a compact form factor.

The binocular system provides true dual-eye night vision, while the adjustable interpupillary distance and diopter adjustment allow the system to be individually adapted to the user. The manufacturer specifies an interpupillary adjustment range of 55–72 mm and a diopter adjustment range of -4D to +2D.

Built for Extended Use

The FB 20 is designed with long-duration use in mind. The system weighs approximately 530g according to the technical specification, while the first page describes the redesigned construction as reducing the overall weight to approximately 550 g. The housing is IP67-rated and designed for operation between -40°C and +50°C. High-light protection and automatic shut-off functions provide additional protection for the system, with individual pod shut-off when the binoculars are flipped up or turned to the side.
